چکیده

Growing environmental concerns have heightened interest in the development of environmentally friendly materials. The purpose this study is to evaluate how mechanical and thermal properties thermoplastic cassava starch (TPCS) are affected by presence banana leaf fibre (BLF). By incorporating between 10% 80% weight into TPCS matrix, biocomposites were created. parameters samples determined. results revealed that material’s flexural tensile characteristics improved significantly, with 50% BLF content matrix achieving highest strength 20.86 MPa, a 32 modulus values. Thermogravimetric examination observed addition stability. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) morphological tests demonstrated an even spread strong adhesion, which biocomposites. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) testing, confirmed biocomposite O-H bonds, also intermolecular hydrogen bonding fibre.

Thermoplastic starch/wood composites: interfacial interactions and functional properties.

Thermoplastic starch (TPS)/wood composites were prepared from starch plasticized with 36 wt% glycerol. The components were homogenized by dry-blending, extruded and injection molded to tensile bars. Tensile properties, structure, deformation, water adsorption and shrinkage were determined as a function of wood content, which changed between 0 and 40 vol% in 7 steps. The modification of TPS with...

Challenges in Biomass–Thermoplastic Composites

Wood and other biomass resources have been blended with thermoplastic such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polylactic acid and polyvinyl chloride to form wood plastic composites (WPC). WPCs have seen a large growth in the United States in recent years mainly in the residential decking market with the removal of CCA treated wood decking from residential markets. While there are many successes to...
